The Samsung Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ handsets have launched on January 22, 2025. They’ve arrived alongside their Galaxy S25 Ultra sibling, as expected. The Galaxy S25 is the smallest and most affordable device in the series, but it shares a lot of its characteristics with the Galaxy S25+ model. That’s why we’ve placed them in the same article. The Galaxy S25 is basically a smaller version of the ‘Plus’ model. In this article, we’ll talk more about both smartphones. We’ll cover their specs, and then move to a number of other categories to give you plenty of information about both devices. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra has been covered separately.
Samsung Galaxy S25 & Galaxy S25+ specs
As already mentioned earlier, these two smartphones do have a lot in common, and that includes many of its specs. So we’ll first talk about what they have in common, and then what’s different between the two phones. Both of these devices are fueled by the same processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. That is essentially a slightly overclocked variant of the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite from Qualcomm. It’s the company’s most powerful processor, a 3nm chip. Samsung paired that with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside both of these phones.
The vanilla model received a RAM bump
The Galaxy S25 comes in 128GB and 256GB storage options, while the Galaxy S25+ can be bought in 256GB and 512GB storage variants. UFS 4.0 storage is used here, and the availability of these variants could differ from one market to the other. Android 15 comes pre-installed on both smartphones, along with One UI 7 included on top of it. Speaking of software, both smartphones are eligible for 7 years of software support. Stereo speakers sit inside both phones, while Bluetooth 5.3 is also a part of both devices, as is eSIM support.
Both of these smartphones have an in-display fingerprint scanner, an ultrasonic one. Facial scanning is also an option, via the front-facing camera. They’re also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. Even their camera setups are completely identical. There is a 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture, OIS, 1/1.56-inch sensor size) on the back. A 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, 120-degree FoV) is also included, as is a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (f/2.4 aperture, OIS, 3x optical zoom, 30x Space Zoom). On the front, a 12-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture lens) can be found.
Both phones include 120Hz panels
That’s pretty much what they have in common. Their displays are different in terms of size, they have different battery capacities, and so on. The Galaxy S25 features a 6.2-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. The Galaxy S25+, on the flip side, has a 6.7-inch WQHD+ (3120 x 1440) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display. Both of those displays offer an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz, and both of them have a peak brightness of up to 2,600 nits. We’re dealing with flat panels here, and the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the displays.
There is a 4,000mAh battery located inside the Galaxy S25, while the Galaxy S25+ has a 4,900mAh battery. 25W wired charging is supported on the smaller model, while the larger one supports 45W wired charging. On top of that, 15W wireless charging is also supported on both, as is reverse wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 measures 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2mm, while it weighs 162 grams. The Galaxy S25+, on the flip side, measures 158.4 x 75.8 x 7.3mm and weighs 190 grams.

Those are the standard colors that will be widely available. Some additional ones are coming, which will be exclusive to the Samsung Store, as is the case every year. Those colors are Blueblack, Coralred, and Pinkgold.
What new upgrades do the Samsung Galaxy S25 & Galaxy S25+ have over their predecessors and in general?
The Samsung Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are actually quite similar to their predecessors in terms of design. The specs have been tweaked a bit, but not much changed in that regard either. The same camera setup is used, the same goes for battery capacity and charging, and so on. Still, there are some improvements here (and features in general) that are worth noting, and we’ll list them below.
More powerful than ever
The Samsung Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+ are fueled by a new processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. That’s basically a special edition of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, one that is clocked a bit higher than the regular chip. It’s also the most powerful chip Qualcomm has to offer at the moment.
RAM boost (Galaxy S25 only)
The base model in the series, the Galaxy S25, also comes with more RAM than its predecessor. It now includes 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, instead of 8GB. That puts it on the same playing field as the Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra in the RAM department. It was about time Samsung made that move.
Next-gen ProVisual Engine
Samsung is putting a lot of faith in its image processing. The ProVisual Engine is supposed to help these phones set “a new standard for mobile photography”. It remains to be seen, as the camera hardware remains unchanged.
One UI 7 is here with a fresh design
Samsung has made some considerable changes when it comes to the design of its Android skin. One UI 7 not only packs some new features, mostly AI ones, but it also looks a bit different this time around.
Circle to Search upgrades
Google’s Circle to Search, which is embedded into One UI 7, has received some upgrades as well. It can now search your phone screen with more accuracy, context, and be faster about it. It can recognize phone numbers, emails, and URLs.
Now Brief
Now Brief is essentially your information center for your day. It can give you plenty of information in the early morning, about the weather, your schedule, etc., and also keep you up to date during the day via Now Bar.
The Audio Eraser is on board
If you ever filmed a video with audio that just doesn’t work due to the background noise or something like that, well, this feature can help with that. It can identify and remove specific sounds.
What cases are available for the Samsung Galaxy S25 & Galaxy S25+?
We still don’t have the information about official cases, we’ll add it later on.
Should I buy the Samsung Galaxy S25 & Galaxy S25+?
Is going for the Samsung Galaxy S25 or Galaxy S25+ the right call? That’s something only you can decide, of course, but… we can provide you with more info. Yes, these two phones are more powerful than their predecessors, but they don’t represent huge jumps up, at least based on what’s on paper. We haven’t reviewed them yet, so that is coming, but based on what we’ve seen Samsung say, and after briefly playing around with both, they’re very similar to their predecessors.
