Galaxy AI
As expected, Samsung’s Galaxy AI is the focus of the software here. The new Galaxy S25 phones all run on One UI 7, which is based on Android 15. However, there is a lot of emphasis on AI.
According to Samsung, AI is being used to offer users a greater degree of personalization. This includes tools like Now Brief that provide proactive suggestions directly from the lock screen. These suggestions are powered by the on-device Personal Data Engine. It can analyze usage patterns to deliver a more tailored experience. Since it runs on-device, users don’t have to worry as much about privacy.
Samsung has also made an upgrade to natural language understanding (NLU). This will unlock search features where users can look for specific images in their gallery using more natural-sounding language and phrases, like you would if you were speaking to another human.
Other AI features include Call Transcripts and Writing Assist. There are also features such as Drawing Assist that combine sketches, text, and image prompts create content on the fly, even if you don’t have that much experience. Lastly, there is the Audio Eraser feature that isolates or removes unwanted sounds in videos.
Samsung is also working with Google to integrate apps with Gemini.
Camera features
The use of AI also extends to photography and video editing. This includes ProScaler for improved image resolution. There is also a Generative Edit feature for creating AI-enhanced visuals. Users can also look forward to Virtual Aperture in Expert RAW, Galaxy Log for cinematic editing, and 10-bit HDR recording.
