The first Unpacked event of the year is less than 24 hours away and Samsung is said to have some surprises in store. The company is expected to launch the Galaxy S25 series during the event, in addition to announcing the stable version of the Android 15-based One UI 7 along with the rollout schedule. A new report claims that Samsung will not only announce its next-gen flagship phones in tomorrow’s Galaxy Unpacked but will also show more of its long-awaited XR headset.

Samsung could announce the Galaxy S25 series and show more of its XR headset at tomorrow’s Unpacked

Leaks related to the XR product developed by Samsung and Google have taken several turns. It all started with an XR headset, which had allegedly been discarded in favor of smart glasses. However, in December 2024 the firm surprised the industry by offering a first look at an XR headset. Will we also have smart glasses from the South Korean giant later this year? Only time will tell.

Business Korea now reports that the XR headset goes by the codename Project Moohan. According to the source, tomorrow’s Unpacked event will bring more info about the device. It’s possible that Samsung will show off new teasers with more specific details about the product’s features. The firm could also reveal more about its tech specs, as the first look from December only revealed the XR headset’s design and that it will run Android XR.

Samsung’s product will enter a territory where rivals like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta’s Quest 3 arrived first. However, the price segment they will occupy is still unknown. Let’s remember that Apple’s headset came out for $3,500, while Meta’s Quest 3 costs just $500. There’s a wide range in which Samsung’s alternative could be positioned.

A Snapdragon-powered XR headset

According to leaks, Samsung’s XR headset will be powered by the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip. Google confirmed that it will support features like Find My Device. The Mountain View giant also revealed that there will be two ways to experience the apps. “In Home Space, a user is able to multitask with your app running side by side with other apps. In Full Space, your app takes center stage as the focus of the user’s experience with full access to the immersive capabilities of Android XR,” says the Android Developers site.
