Apple Joins UALink Consortium Board
Apple has officially joined the Board of the Ultra Accelerator Link Consortium (UALink), alongside Alibaba Cloud Computing and Synopsys. They join existing board members, including AMD, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Astera Labs, Cisco, Google, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Intel, Meta, and Microsoft. The UALink Consortium is an open industry standards group formed to develop interconnect technical specifications that enable direct load, store, and atomic operations between AI accelerators (e.g., GPUs). Their focus is to facilitate low-latency, high-bandwidth fabric for hundreds of accelerators in a pod and to support simple load and store semantics with software coherency. The UALink 1.0 Specification will leverage the expertise of its Promoter Members, who have developed and deployed a broad range of accelerators and switches."UALink shows great promise in addressing connectivity challenges and creating new opportunities for expanding AI capabilities and demands," said Becky Loop, Director of Platform Architecture at Apple. "Apple has a long history of pioneering and collaborating on innovations that drive our industry forward, and we're excited to join the UALink Board of Directors."Continue ReadingSpotlight Deal:New Apple iPad mini 7 On Sale for $399!
