Google Pixel devices received the latest Android 15 QPR update in December 2024. The next one will come out in March, and beta program members are already getting sneak peeks of it. In the last few hours, Google began the rollout of Android 15 QPR2 Beta 3 for eligible Pixel phones (and tablets). The previous beta update arrived just under two weeks ago.

QPR updates are different than the usual monthly security patches. They are not limited to fixing bugs and vulnerabilities but include a healthy set of new features and improvements. It’s a way for devices to receive new functions and options on a quarterly basis without having to wait a whole year for the availability of the next big Android release.

Android 15 QPR2 Beta 3 now available for several Pixel devices

Google is releasing Android 15 QPR2 Beta 3 under build number BP11.241210.004. The list of eligible devices includes the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Even the Android Emulator is compatible with the latest firmware.

The update changelog mentions that the company has resolved bugs that were “impacting system stability, connectivity, and interactivity.” This includes crashing on a connected Wear OS device after starting to exercise, random system UI crashes related to null pointer exceptions (OS trying to access unassigned variables), and Android Beta Feedback app crashes when trying to report a bug—ironically.

The update also brought fixes for other issues related to key device features. The list includes phones rebooting when trying to make calls, “clicking” background sounds when recording video, and wireless charging stopping working, among others.

You can wait to receive notification of the update’s availability on your device. However, you can also download the files from the Android Developer website to flash the firmware yourself if you have the necessary knowledge.
